Something happened! The flood gates opened! 5 phone calls from headhunters today AND a job interview! A company is actually seriously hiring, not just screwing around!

He went to a networking meeting a couple of weeks ago and met someone who knows the vp of one of the companies he's applied to, got an introduction, and talked to the guy today. Yeah, they weren't seriously hiring. It was an internal thing that they had to advertise but there's only actually 1 position available and it's not really available right now.

But with the very first interview coming, who cares about the other company! 1 interview in 4 months of looking and applying. It's just shocking how low the economy has fallen. In normal times, he'd have 5 interviews lined up in the same afternoon of the layoff and at the end, play them off of each other to negotiate the best deal.

If ANY company was actually hiring, he'd have 200 jobs by now.
Every single one ends up with a hiring freeze.

Apparently, I'm either a glutton for punishment or a penny magnet.
